In Appreciation of the Color Brown

The color brown: warm and seductive all at once.

Comforting in the way a rain-soaked deck feels on your back after a day in the heat.

Intoxicating in the way a fire looks when it catches the edges of a tree branch.

Under the light of day, brown is also honey, and blinding gold.

When the shadows cover it, brown becomes unseeable, deep and resonant—maybe a little dangerous.

It’s an amber jewel, and it’s midnight, and it’s home.
