I tuck you under

The scent of fireworks

I settle you in

A knit of giddy reveries

I blossom your mind,

No more shadows before your eyes

I have shown you the way:

A gorgeous, boy-shaped design

Modeled after your desire,

I unveil the dream-made-real:

Coworker, barista, classmate

Each a glimmering lullaby

You wander the world

With my design in your mind

It is a delight to be here,

You think, I am fine!

There is no need to seek

Outside this keep

He is your reason to wake

He is your ease into sleep

He whirls you around:

Rainbow kaleidoscope views

Dancing you go, gliding

You dare not leave so soon

He sends the heat in your step

He leaves the smirk on your lips

He spills the spark in your eye

He lights the glow at your fingertips

He is the prettiest picture

He is the truest song

He is a twinkling road

He is your golden home

A flaw, you say: he cannot surprise you

But isn’t that sweet?

I keep you assured;

Uncertainty is certainly agony

The world is weeping, you say

While the world may weep

You may bathe in bliss

Can’t you feel his hand upon your cheek?

You want to know real

You are beginning to feel

I hear your plea, but tell me:

How can exhilaration equal fear?

He beams a wide smile

His hands are quite safe

He has heart in his eyes

He is all-needs-met-for-free

As long as you never leave,

As long as you forget

To get to know him,

He is yours, and you are mine

Didn’t I check all the boxes?

Didn’t I smile my best?

I mean, didn’t he smile the brightest?

Didn’t you hear me, him, in your sleep?

He called you the most beautiful names

Didn’t I save you, from pain,

Monotony, humiliation?

Didn’t I alone carry you through

The days of darkness, years of doom?

I am the reason you are alive

Fine

Face the quiet screaming boredom

Ache in your determined silence

But I will never abandon you,

Like you deem to abandon me

I have prepared new designs,

Laced with your desire,

And they are ready, too,

To meet you;

Are you not cold?
